While OnePlus is gearing up for the launch of the OnePlus 6 at its London and Mumbai events, the company is also reminding users that it hasn’t forgotten about some of its older flagships by releasing an update in its Open Beta program. The latest OxygenOS Open Beta update is rolling out to four devices in total: the OnePlus 5/5T (Open Beta 10 and Open Beta 8) and the OnePlus 3/3T (Open Beta 36 and Open Beta 27).
The changelog is apparently the same for all of the four devices:
- Updated Android security patch to May
- Added Toolbox Card in shelf
- Added Hidden Space in app drawer
- Added support for editing dynamic icons(weather, clock and calendar)
- Optimized user interface for backup & restore
- Optimized logic for time remaining
- General bug fixes and stability improvements
- Added Group MMS
While the OnePlus 5/5T are receiving their Open Beta build on Android 8.1 Oreo, the OnePlus 3T/3 continue to remain on Android 8.0 Oreo in this set of builds. The highlight of this update is the inclusion of the Android Security Patch for the month of May and the ability to edit dynamic icons for weather, clock, and calendar in the Launcher. The rest of the update revolves around improvements to the OnePlus Switch app and the Messages app.
Users already on the OxygenOS beta path will receive this update as an incremental OTA if they are stock unrooted, and as a complete update if they are rooted. Users who are not on the beta path can download and manually flash the ROM.
As always, the OnePlus team is looking for feedback. You can either provide feedback through the feedback form or at the dedicated Open Beta thread in the OnePlus forums. If you want to interact with other forum users, you can also check out our OnePlus 5/5T and OnePlus 3/3T forums.
