The Honor View 10 uses the Kirin 970 chipset with the dedicated NPU to bring a new level of AI to the phone. This AI is implemented into the camera in a way that allows the camera to identify many different scenes, and adjust the settings to get the best picture possible.
AI Portrait Mode
Using the NPU, the Honor View 10 is able to use the popular selfie mode that we see in many flagship phones, and bring some major improvements to it. The AI is able to do a much more accurate job of detecting the background and the edges of the person being photographed. The result is beautiful selfies that look even better than those that come from the iPhone X.
Check out these samples to see how the NPU powered AI help the Honor View 10 take amazing portrait mode selfies, compared to the iPhone X.
Notice how one the iPhone X, the flowers between the faces of the people are left unblurred, throwing off the entire effect. On the View 10, the camera is better at detecting all three faces and removing them from the background, blurring all of the appropriate areas.
Intelligent Scene Recognition
Right now, the Honor View 10 can recognize 13 different scenes with more being added. The View 10’s dual camera setup consists of two sensors, a 16MP sensor and a 20MP sensor, the former of which has a f/1.8 aperture and phase detection autofocus and support for video recording up to 4K. It uses the NPU to its fullest — all of the camera modes from previous Honor phones make an appearance in the View 10, along with some new ones made possible by the Kirin 970’s NPU (shown below). The NPU means you’ll spend less time adjusting your camera settings and makes it easier to take perfect shots.
