Huawei has some of the fastest chargers in the game, with Super Charge 2.0 capable of pushing 40W wired to your smartphone. It debuted with the Huawei Mate 20 Pro last year, and this year Huawei appears to be innovating yet again in the charging sphere with the release of the Huawei Mate 30. A rumor has suggested that the Huawei Mate 30 will support 25W fast wireless charging, and a wireless charging pad from the company has just passed through the FCC. The Huawei Mate 30 appears to be getting announced on September 19th.
Notice the potential output power from the documents obtained from the FCC listing – a maximum of 30W is listed, lining up perfectly with rumors suggesting 25W wireless charging. Previously, the fastest wireless charging came with the Xiaomi Mi 9 at 20W. Even Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10 only charges at 25W, which Huawei appears to have now matched via wireless charging. The Huawei P30 Pro shipped with 15W wireless charging support, while the regular P30 didn’t support it at all. There are no rumors supporting a faster wired charging speed, though 40W is incredibly fast as is. It will be interesting to see if the Mate 30 supports reverse wireless charging, and if so, how fast it can do so.
The Huawei Mate 30 will likely see the advent of the Kirin 990 chipset, which will undoubtedly boast both performance and efficiency improvements. Not much else is known about the Mate 30, and it could even be the case that this fast wireless charger will actually be for a further-in-the-future device or even just the Pro variant of the Mate 30. With an announcement on the horizon, we do expect some more leaks closer to the time, and we’ll be keeping a close eye on it. The company’s future is shrouded in uncertainty, though they were recently added back to Google’s Enterprise Recommended list which is a good sign for the future.
