In September 2020, HMD Global launched three new Nokia smartphones along with some accessories for the global market. Out of these devices, while the Nokia 8.3 had already been announced back in March, HMD Global also unveiled two new entries in its X.4 (X being a numeral here) generation, starting with the Nokia 2.4 and Nokia 3.4. Of these two, the Nokia 2.4 is now making its way to India for a price of ₹10,399 (~$140) with higher RAM and storage than the global variant.
The Nokia 2.4 has a new 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display, which is an upgrade over the Nokia 2.3. It also adorns new overalls and comes with a 3D texturized design in interesting colors namely Dusk, Fjord, and Charcoal. The smartphone also comes with a dedicated hardware button for Google Assistant.
In addition to the visible changes, the Nokia 2.4 features a bigger, 4500mAh battery — as compared to the 4000mAh battery on the Nokia 2.3. Further, the Indian variant comes with 3GB RAM and 64GB of storage even though the global variant is only available in a 2GB/32GB configuration. As opposed to the previous generation, the smartphone now comes with a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset — which is still an old SoC and has been seen on older entry-level devices priced much lower than this one.
In terms of software, the Nokia 2.4 comes with Android 10 out-of-the-box. It is part of Google’s Android One program and comes with the guarantee of two Android version updates and three years of security updates.
